Here’s how we handle your information
Everyone who submits their personal data and other sensitive personal information to us should feel confident that it will be handled properly. This privacy policy explains how we collect and use this information. It also describes the person's rights towards us and how they can enforce their rights. We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
Talita (802418-1987) is, as a legal entity, responsible for the processing of personal data within the business in accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) Data Protection Regulation that came into force on May 25, 2018. Talita can be reached by email at info@talita.se and by phone at 0704 30 44 64.
When a person seeks support from us and/or is part of Talita's rehabilitation
When a person chooses to participate in research on pornography
When a person makes a donation or becomes a monthly donor to Talita
When a person becomes a member of Talita
When a person subscribes to our newsletter
When a person applies for a position at Talita
When a person becomes a volunteer at Talita
When a person otherwise contacts us by email or phone
We keep personal data for as long as it is necessary to carry out our work. We may save the data longer if we are required to do so by law or to protect our legal interests, e.g. in an ongoing legal process.
When a person seeks support/enters the rehabilitation program
When someone seeks support from us anonymously via our hotline or by email, nothing is saved. However, if the person wants continued contact, we save their name and contact details for the duration of the contact. When the contact ends, all data is deleted. We collect anonymous statistics about our activities every year and therefore save information about how many people seek support from us, form of contact, type of support, location, etc. This information cannot be linked to a specific person and is completely anonymous. Talita saves certain other personal information (in addition to name and contact details) about the women included in the rehabilitation program in order to best support and help them during the time they live with us. Some information is stored in a locked safe in our office, to which only the staff has a code, while other information (such as documentation to authorities, contracts and certificates) is only stored on the computers of the managers.
When a woman comes to us and chooses to be part of the program, she is informed about this and then she has to agree in writing to the handling of the data. When the woman moves out of the Talita shelter, all documentation is destroyed or de-identified.
For security reasons, Talita has a film camera mounted above the front door (on the inside) of our homes. The information is not stored long-term but is continuously deleted. The women who live with us also have to agree to this in writing.
When a person chooses to participate in research on pornography Talita conducts research on pornography. Research participants are recruited 1) via advertisements, 2) via an advisory group consisting of women with previous experience of pornography production (snowball sampling) and 3) via authorities and organizations in the community that specialize in sexual health, that work with women exposed to violence (e.g. women's and girl's shelters), and that offer support to individuals with experience of sex for money (e.g. the Micro Clinic). Those who are interested in participating in the study should contact the telephone number listed in the recruitment advertisement. When this happens, we receive their phone number, either via the phone call or text message. The potential interviewee is screened according to the selection criteria (gender, age and experience in pornography production). This is to know if the person belongs to our target group and can be interviewed for the research. If the woman meets the selection criteria, she receives further information about the study before being assigned a day and time for the interview. We then save the personal data (phone number and possibly name) up to and including the day of the interview, as we need to be able to guide the individual to the right address if uncertainty arises. All research participants must give their informed consent regarding participation in the research and sharing of data before the interview takes place. After the research subjects sign the consent forms, they are given a copy of the forms to keep. All data subsequently collected is anonymous. Participants are assigned a code number. Names, telephone numbers and any email addresses are deleted immediately after the interview. No tapes or video recordings are used; instead, descriptive answers are typed on a laptop and simple answers on physical paper by the interviewer during the interview. Data files are then transferred to the principal investigator, while physical documents are kept locked in a cabinet. Only authorized researchers have access to the research material. Quotes from the interviews will be used to illustrate de-identified text (though without code numbers to ensure anonymity). Quantitative data will be anonymized before analysis and aggregated statistics will be used to present the results. It is important that all data is anonymized and only available to authorized members of the research team. When a person gives a gift or becomes a monthly donor
When someone gives a gift, information about the transaction (amount, time, type of transaction and type of gift) is stored in our online banking and fundraising service. If the gift is transferred via swish, the phone number and the information provided by the person in connection with the payment, such as name, is saved. This information disappears after two years. When a person becomes a monthly donor, we collect their name, address, email address and the amount they want to give each month. The information is removed when the donor informs us that they want to stop.
The personal data we collect when a person becomes a member is stored in our membership register. This contains names and contact details such as email address and telephone number. The information is deleted when the membership ends.
When a person wants to subscribe to our newsletter When a person registers as a monthly donor on our website, they are offered to subscribe to our newsletter. If they choose to do so, we collect their name and email address. The information is deleted when the person notifies us that the subscription will be terminated.
When a person applies for a position
When a person applies for a position with us, we collect contact information and information about qualifications. If it is not possible to employ the person, the data is deleted.
When a person becomes a volunteer
The personal data we collect when a person becomes a volunteer is saved in our volunteer register. This includes names and contact details such as email address and telephone number. We save information needed for the volunteer position, such as qualifications. The information is deleted as soon as the volunteer position ends.
We process personal data for the following purposes:
To be able to respond when someone contacts us and requests our support.
To be able to help the clients in the best way possible during the time they live with us.
To conduct research on how women are affected by participating in pornography production so that we can prevent sex trafficking and improve our rehabilitation.
To process donations and fulfill legal requirements regarding the storage of contracts.
To be able to respond to inquiries about membership, volunteering, vacancies or donations.
To compile anonymized statistics that improve our activities and enable us to report results to donors.
The data stored in our member register is used to inform about our activities by emailing thank you letters, member letters, invitations to events, training courses, annual meetings and the like to all members.
When a person provides data to Talita, they give their consent for us to record and store data and process it in accordance with this privacy policy. As a legal basis for processing, Talita uses 1) fulfillment of contract, 2) legal obligation, 3) legitimate interest of the controller or third party or 4) consent. The processing takes place in accordance with current legislation and means that personal data is not retained for longer than necessary for the purposes of the processing.
If the personal data we process is inaccurate, incomplete or irrelevant, the data subject may request its rectification, completion or erasure. For example, they have the right to have their personal data deleted if it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected, as long as we are not required to keep the data by law or to defend a legal claim. If the data subject disagrees with a balance of interests we have made, they can also object to the processing or ask us to restrict it by contacting us. People whose personal data we have stored always have the right to access their information. If they have given consent to processing, they have the right to withdraw their consent at any time.
Only Talita employees have access to the personal data stored about the women seeking support. Volunteers also have access to personal data if they work directly with a woman as a support person. Only authorized researchers have access to anonymized research material. The material is kept in a locked cabinet at Talita's office. Talita will not sell, rent or lease the personal data collected in its activities. Data collected through the donation box on the website may be shared with our IT provider for the payment solution. However, Talita is always responsible for the processing. Personal data may be disclosed if it is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process or request from an enforcement authority and to protect Talita's legal interests.
Talita has taken the necessary technical security measures to protect the personal data we store against unauthorized access, alteration and deletion. As we keep some information on women seeking support for statistical purposes, the recorded information is deleted when a new year starts and the statistics are recorded. Anonymized statistics are stored long-term. The digital storage of personal data takes place on a dropbox that is only accessible to those responsible for operations at Talita. The physical information stored is locked in a safe at our office.
If a person believes that our processing of their personal data has been incorrect, they can report this to the Swedish Data Protection Authority either by telephone on 08-657 61 00 or by e-mail to imy@imy.se.
Everyone who submits their personal data and other sensitive personal information to us should feel confident that it will be handled properly. Talita’s fundraising efforts must always be characterized by dignity, respect, and honesty. When communicating in connection with fundraising, Talita must never exploit or portray survivors of the sex industry in a way that could be perceived as offensive, sensationalist, or hurtful. Talita must also not use stories, images, or personal information without consent and without ensuring the individual’s safety and anonymity. Talita must always provide accurate and factual information about how the funds will be used.
Talita accepts only contributions and partnerships that align with the organization’s core values. This means that Talita does not accept money, donations, or support from businesses or individuals that we know are connected to the sex industry (human trafficking, prostitution, or pornography). Talita also does not accept money derived from dishonest, exploitative, or illegal activities (e.g., arms trafficking or narcotics).
All funds raised must be used in accordance with the purpose communicated during the fundraising campaign. If a project receives more funds than planned, or if circumstances change, donors must be informed of how the funds will be used instead. This must always be done in line with Talita’s overall mission. Transparency and accountability are core values, ensuring that donors can have full confidence that their contributions are used as promised.
Donations to the organization are voluntary and are considered final once payment has been made. The organization has no obligation to refund funds received. In cases of obvious errors, such as duplicate payments or incorrect amounts, a refund may be issued upon written request from the donor. Each case is assessed individually. If a donor imposes new conditions retroactively that the organization cannot meet, this is not considered grounds for a refund.
The organization may accept donations in the form of stocks, mutual funds, or other financial instruments. Such donations are valued at fair market value at the time of transfer.
Donations in the form of real estate or other tangible property may be accepted following a specific review. Prior to a decision, an assessment must be made of: financial implications, any existing debts or encumbrances, management costs, and legal obligations. The organization reserves the right to dispose of real property if this is deemed to be in line with the organization’s objectives and financial responsibilities.
The organization reserves the right to decline gifts that are deemed to conflict with its core values, mission, or ethical guidelines.
